Originally aired on BBC1 Sunday Feb12 2006. This was the aircraft carrier that carried the Swordfish aircraft that managed to disable the German battleship Bismarck after its rampage against the Royal Navy in the North Atlantic during WWII. Later in her carreer was sunk by a German torpedo in the Mediterranean. Almost sixty years later and after three years of searching by a BBC team, the wreck of the ship was found. Dan Snow hosts the investigation of the ship's important wartime history. Extensive use of period film footage and interviews with the veterans who served aboard ship and the Swordfish aircraft she carried. The documentary features dramatic high-resolution imagery of the wreck-site from a robotic submersible.
