Whatever is in store--a massive cosmic collision, a global environmental disaster, an Armageddon-like religious showdown, or a more subtle transformation--many believe that December 21, 2012 will mark a major shift in the history of our planet. There is no cogent distinction between the sobering facts and hysterical fiction--what, if any, modern scientific proof exists? Is there any other compelling evidence throughout history that 2012 will be a year of unprecedented, deadly upheaval? This special looks for the parallels between the nightmarish daily headlines and the 2012 prophecies from Nostradamus and others. From the mystical realms of the Guatemalan jungles to the Hopi elders and Mayan shaman to respected thinkers of the modern age--Nostradamus' doomsday warning will be cast in a frighteningly modern context ********************************** The end of the world is coming on December 21st, 2012. Years ago that was in the far distant future. Now its right around the corner. What is it with that date that so many ancients prophesied that the world would end then? Read about the Nostradamus 2012 predictions and others. Its hard to understand how there can be new predictions coming from a man who has been dead almost 500 years. However, it seems that new writings have been found. They obviously aren’t ‘new’, but they have previously been hidden. The revelations that the most famous medieval prophet wrote were controversial and considered blasphemous in his time. A previously unknown book of Nostradamus’ prophesies has been found in the National Library and it contains his end of the world prophesy. The History Channel is airing a new show focusing on his predictions about 2012. The show, The Lost Book of Nostradamus, will premiere January 4, 2009. A video about the show is included here. Its a little disconcerting in light of the fact that several independent ancient sources have predicted the world will end on December 21, 2012. Now we can add Nostradamus to the list of predictions for that date. In fact, he notes that the odds of these various groups predicting the same events for the same date could not be mere coincidence. “Thousands of people Thousands of miles away Thousands of years apart All predict a cataclysmic event Taking place on earth On the exact same day Can that really be a coincidence?” In addition to having this revelation from Nostradamus, we have the relatively recent revelation from NASA scientists that we can expect major solar storms that will disrupt the magnetic fields on Earth and create chaotic disruptions on Earth. NASA predicts these unprecedented solar storms will occur in …. your guessed it …. 2012. Of course, we all know that the advanced civilization of the Mayans ended their calendar on December 21, 2012. We recently reported that the Dutch are preparing for a 2012 apocalypse. They seem mostly upset that The Netherlands seems to be sinking into the ocean. I realize that we’ve had many warnings of the end of the world before. We all remember cults that have sat and waited for space ships to come pick them up before destroying the Earth, or committing mass suicide in preparation for the apocalypse. Then there was all the dire warnings about Y2K. They say that happens at every turn of a millennium, although I don’t know how anyone would know that. All of these stories make any of these prophesies a little hard to get too excited about. Still, one keeps coming back to the words of Nostradamus. Can it be a coincidence when different civilizations on different continents in different times came up with the same date? Its not like they could text each other or read it on the internet. They came up with the predictions of doom and gloom in 2012 complete independently of one another. I think I’ll plan a big party for December 22, 2012, the day after Winter Solstice 2012. If we are still around then, it’ll be a big celebration. If not, then it won’t really make any difference. What do you think? Is there enough of these strangely coincidental predictions and prophesies to cause concern? Is it just another conspiracy theory that puts together random facts mixed with lots of fiction to create a strange tale? Sharing WidgetTrackers
