> Inventive, atmospheric horror in the style of Blair Witch. A zombie-creating disease strikes the world and its effects are captured on film by three groups of survivors in Hertfordshire, England. This film owes a serious debt to Romero, but it taps into some very 21st century concerns - bird flu, mass migration, the trustworthiness of friends and neighbours. It's edgy, rough-around-the-edges and brutal, but it boasts a couple of serious scares and some good, honest performances. The scenes set on the abandoned farmhouse are particularly good - by limiting himself to one location, director Bartlett ups the tension and produces a sophisticated riff on the standard horror frightener. A sleeper hit in the making!
