Description
Thomas Zackari - Steel - Blues Fingerpicking Guitar
Liner note (excerpt). --------------- One guitar, one take, no fake. Thomas Zackari has a style characterized by two main elements: 1) Blues solo improvisation (with full bends, vibrato, etc) while all the time maintaining a steady bass with his right thumb. This style of playing is by far more difficult than playing predefined arrangements or playing only the improvised solo part (without the bass). The improvised piece Low Gear is a prime example of this rare and demanding style. 2) A close-up tone with the natural full sound of the steel stringed western guitar. If You are into traditional arranged (not improvised) fingerpicking, his version of the ever popular hit from the sixties, These Boots Are Made For Walking, should for sure suite Your taste. A punctilious interpretation of the original song by Lee Hazlewood/Nancy Sinatra. Jazz harmonica virtuoso Toots Thielemans once wrote a very short but catchy theme for a Swedish movie named Dunderklumpen. Zackari takes this seldom heard tune as a base, digs into his bag of tricks and delivers a fingerpicking showcase. His own composition Sad Sunset is a modern variation of the blues, with a modal flavour on top of the steady bass. Another favourite of mine.
