There are some very good and interesting points made above. As is always the case, there are good and bad points both for and against any idea. . Regarding the issue of [i]'Breach of copyright'[i] KAT radio is already in breach of the act by [i]'publicly broadcasting copyright material'[i] so I think that question can be largely thrown out the window. Now I'm not getting at anyone here, I'm simply stating a fact! . If there were any concerns at all? then it's a simple matter to improvise, set a timer on the player so that it plays the first 10 mins, 20 mins or whatever of the movie, then switches to another movie. The [b]'Official line'[/b] then from KAT, would be along the lines that it is [b]Promoting[/b] the movie in order to increase sales and cinema viewings for the producers, by way of showing [b]'Trailers'[/b] of their products [b][u]For Free![/u][/b] . Taking the next point raised, [i]'Wouldn't allowing embedded youtube videos achieve the same?'[/i] Well not exactly, you see with youtube videos, content can be used from anywhere on youtube, the Idea was to have somewhere [b]for the members here[/b] to use for the showing of their uploaded work. Not some area where anything and everything with no connection to the members here, could be shown. . Next point about extra servers required etc. Not necessarily, it's a reasonably simple task to embed a played in the web page and make it point to anything you wish, however I do concede that probably not all formats would be supported, anything zipped for instance probably wouldn't be supported, so there would be some limitations. . As for time and effort? I could probably knock one up on my site in a couple of hours if allowed to do so, and i'm an amateur really, so from a professional point of view it's probably kindergarten stuff! . Now it is true that the authorities are getting stricter in almost every country regarding streaming or any type of broadcasting/sharing of copyrighted material. However they generally tend to take a more sterner view of the sharing aspect than the streaming aspect, Mainly because it is a lot easier (in their eyes) for people to make a copy from a torrent than it is from anything that is streaming. Of course anyone here would know that's nonsense, however i think that we should let them continue to think that. .
